The Greene County Food Pantry was founded in 2007, as a 501c3, non profit, tax deductible organization, and is located in the Morningside Apartment complex on Martin Luther King Jr. Dr. in downtown Greensboro. The pantry serves all Greene County residents that qualify for assistance.
Clients are qualified to receive food only one time per month. The Food Pantry qualifications center around the national poverty level criteria and clients must supply documentation of their status. We serve all that qualify and are especially partial to senior citizens. Over 30% of our clients are seniors living below the poverty level (example: $700 Social Security and $50 Federal Food Stamps per month). Our mission is to assist those in the community by providing a nutritionally sound assortment of canned goods, box dinners, rice, beans, pasta, cereal, fruit, meat, bread, etc in quantities large enough to provide for a few meals every month. In previous years, The Greene County Food Pantry has served over 5,500 families — nearly 15,000 individuals — with each family receiving more than 30 pounds of food per month. Greene County Food Pantry is a registered 501c3 (Tax ID #26-213-5416). Donations are tax deductible. |
